Management Accountancy Training is an initiative by qualified Accountants to extend quality accountancy and management education to students in Uganda and Rest of Africa.

The Management and Accountancy Training Company was established in 1999 to provide higher education to students in Uganda and the rest of Africa.  It operates from a custom built 10,000 sq ft training centre with modern teaching facilities on Second Street, near Kampala city centre.  Last semester, MAT provided tuition to over 1,000 students.  It employs over 40 administrative, academic and professional staff.

Since its inception it has developed highly successful professional accountancy training programmes – over 400 MAT students have passed their ACCA and ICPAU final examinations and qualified as professional accountants.  Many of those ACCA and ICPAU students have won top prizes in Uganda.

MAT has diversified into academic courses.  It is an affiliated institution of the Makerere University Business School for their Certificate and Diploma programmes with 250 students in the current academic year.

MAT is an Approved Learning Partner of the Heriot-Watt University for their MBA programme with more than 20 students this semester.  This MBA programme has 8,500 MBA graduates to date, and over 8,000 active students in 144 countries.  It was listed second largest in the Financial Times survey ‘20 of the top distance learning MBAs’ in March 2003. 

MAT is committed to quality and holds the ISO 9001 certification for quality standards awarded by Bureau Veritas.  MAT is the only Registered ACCA Tuition Provider and also the approved CIPFA Provider in Uganda.


Experience

The Company is majority owned and managed by UK qualified accountants with over 25 years experience in the field of accountancy training.  The training experience of the company is derived from the management team who has been actively involved in education and training in the UK and South East Asia. Apart from the experienced team of overseas lecturers, the company has recruited a local team of professionals who have provided training in the country and has experience of the local market requirements.  Our lecturers follow a continuous professional development programme to keep them up to date in their teaching techniques and technical contents.
